philosophy

I try to live my life with the philosophy that every person is doing the best they can with the tools they have been given.  This realization has made me a more understanding, patient, and empathetic person.  I truly believe that no matter the circumstances, we are all trying our best at any given moment.  This can apply to our friends, strangers, our co-workers, and our patients. Every patient has their own values, experiences, cultural beliefs, barriers to care, and coping skills.  If we can meet everyone right where they are, it gives us the opportunity to help, without judgment or resentment.  Realizing that the difficult patient may be experiencing anxiety and is doing the best they can at that moment with the coping skills they have been given, will help make your and their experience better.  The patient that has poor home care is doing the best they can with the tools and they have been given.  This philosophy allows the opportunity to possibly change things for the better moving forward without judgment of their past.  The coworker that just cannot catch up and is running behind is doing the best they can with the tools they have been given.  We all have those days and we have full lives outside of the office, so we all need to be met where we are and offered a hand once in a while.  Interoffice collaboration can be about treatment plans and professional contributions or about teamwork to make the details of the day run smoother.  As a healthcare provider, we have the opportunity to educate, encourage and support those we meet. I believe that I have been given tools in my life, through my upbringing, life experiences, and education that have led me to do the best I can as a healthcare provider.   With these tools along with those I will learn through the commitment of life long continued learning, I will be able to improve the health and wellbeing of the community I serve.

And I can't wait to get started!
